GD in Prada Spring 2013

In the March issue of Vogue Korea, GD appeared in an editorial with Taeyang wearing pieces from the season’s best collections. Prada, for instance, was one of my favorites. At first when I saw the collection, I must admit that I question it a little, but as I look at it more, it started to make sense to me. I know the shoes are pretty out there, but the whole collection was just absolutely whimsical and dreamy…and sexy! Those are not the three word I use together to describe something often, but Muiccia Prada’s interpretation of Japanese influence was something new and exciting.

The rebellious geisha look worked so well. The floral appliqués were simple, but gave the collection such a dramatic spirit. Muiccia is so great at turning something so simple and mundane into creations that are clever and gorgeous. All the pieces in this collection can be done in so many colors, and believe it or not, you can actually incorporate them into yur everyday wardrobe quite easily.

GD didn’t exactly wear runway looks in this editorial. First off, I don’t like this editorial to be honest. It’s not a fashion editorial to be, and absolutely not something I would expect to see in Vogue Korea…or any Vogue for that matter. The Prada pieces, although they look nice in the editorial, appeared to be flat; they looked like they were just placed there with no composition purpose, but that’s just my opinion. These kind of editorials are not exactly my taste, so I’m obviously being bias here.

To be blatantly honest with all of you, I was absolutely horrified when I saw Jae Joong’s concept. All I saw was Junsu’s Tarantallegra (do not even get me started) crossed between gothic slam metal.

I’ll be frank with you and tell you that Jae Joong has sung metal/rock like this before with a solo Japanese song ‘Maze’. That was alright, but I only liked certain parts of it, for example certain key changes and guitar riffs.

Let me explain why I was dreading his solo comeback.

One.

Jae Joong’s voice.

Have you heard him sing? It’s fucking lovely. His voice has such a heartwarming vibrato and such a lovely tone that I have never ever seen another guy posses. However, Jae Joong suits singing the softer songs; the OST’s, the heart wrenching break up songs, the love songs.

I’ve heard him sing rock in Maze and frankly he just doesn’t cut it. He can’t use his vibrato in rock, and that just pulls out his voice to a flat, wide timbre that sounds just plain hoarse.

There’s no heart and no soul visible, and Jae Joong’s way of conveying is usually through his voice. This time, I hear nothing.

Two.

I don’t know if he wrote the whole album by himself, but I can safely say that ‘Be Mine’ is not a very good one.

There is no melody line, the verses are all over the place and it jumps harmonically like a rabbit on drugs.

See now I sound rude.

None of you should doubt my love for this man - I used to wake up at 5 am every morning hunting photos of his down and tracks that he has sung.

However, as a true fan and not a person that defends his every action, I need to admit his weakness as well.

He cannot write songs for shit.

I’m not sure if he wrote Be Mine, but that’s the reason why I’m not particularly motivated to listen to the rest of the album. There are moments where the music he writes does sound pleasing, but a majority of the time it’s incredibly abstract.

Three.

Now, the MV itself is alright. He looks okay and stuff, but it’s so not him.

I get that he’s trying to push himself out there and I applaud him for it, however there are different ways to approach things.

For one, lose the Tarantallegra feel. Junsu already did that, and there are heaps of other ways to immerse yourself in darkness, so ditch the black nailpolish, the half-hand-on-face move and ditch all the jewellery and leather. PLEASE!

Tarantallegra was already bondage-like enough, and since Jae Joong lost all his muscle and became stick thin seeing his body doesn’t please me anymore. I’d rather see him healthy, fuller and more comfortable, than try to look sexy and fail.

It’s pretty well shot and has some nice themes to it and I especially like the owl, however I really do not appreciate the Mirotic chain-snapping and the whole Christian Grey BDSM theme.

Alright it’s not as sexual as Junsu’s, but there is something so cringeworthy looking at it that I closed the window two minutes into the song.

It’s just not appealing, I’m sorry Jae Joong.

Jae Joong - MINE MV

Okay, overall, this MV is creepy. The vampire teeth, the snake and his cone shaped hat doesn’t do it for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love Jae Joong, and his voice is as amazing as ever. The song, although repetitive, was really catchy and the instrumental at the very end was beautiful.

His dark side is captivating, although it may not be to everyone’s taste.

If it were a rating on the song itself, I’d give it a 4.5, but because of the visuals…

IT’S FINALLY HEREEEEE!!!!!!

B.A.P’s MV “Rain Sound” has officially been unveiled!!! What a way to start the new year!

According to TS Entertainment, despite this track being only a pre-release of their upcoming mini-album, they had invested a lot into this music video.

This group just keeps upping themselves. It’s a really catchy song and I’m so glad I didn’t hear any whistles!

It has actually been forever since we’ve heard from 2PM, and due to our past experiences with 2PM Week, we think that the 2PM fans are the most dedicated (refer to the billions of notes on Junho’s sexy image)
